SUNDAY MORNINGS -- 9:30 - 10:30 am
How We Got Our Bible
Leader: Pastor Brighton Location: Fellowship Area (downstairs, main worship center)
Target Audience:All Adults
Did you ever wonder how we got our Bible? How long did it take to write? What’s the difference between the various translations? Is it okay to read a paraphrase? What are the Apocryphal books and why aren’t they in our Bible? How reliable is the Bible we read, since the original manuscripts are long gone? We’ll tackle these questions and more in this informative class. We’ll also compare various translations.
The Lutheran Liturgy
Leader: Jerry Bisping Location: Sanctuary Classroom (left of main Sanctuary)
Target Audience:All Adults
This class will explore our Lutheran Liturgy. What is Lutheran worship? Why do we worship the way we do? What is the meaning of the liturgy? We will attempt to answer these questions and more. Anyone who is interest in learning more about the richness and depth of our Lutheran way of worship should attend.
Lessons of the Church Year
Leader: Bob Reynolds Location: Bride’s Room (just off main entrance to the right)
Target Audience:All Adults
In this study, we’ll discuss the Scripture readings for the Sundays of Epiphany that point us to Christ, the Light of the world! This class will enrich your devotional and worship life as we talk about the lessons (Old Testament, Epistle and Gospel) that will be read the following weekend in the church services.
Holy Land Bible Study
Leader: Bob Yeager Location: Sanctuary
Target Audience:All Adults
Utilizing the video series created by Focus on the Family entitled “That the world May Know,” we will follow Dr. Ray Vender Laan as he leads us to such Holy Land sites as Caesarea Phillippi, Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives where we will sit in with a tour group as they study Scripture passages on the very site where they occurred. We will discuss the lesson and have time to share our thoughts with each other!
Great Women of the Bible
Leader: Carol Yeager Location: Cry Room (right of main Sanctuary)
Target Audience:Ladies Only
Paul’s letter to the Romans is one of the most profound books of the entire Bible. Luther called Romans “the chief part of the New Testament and the clearest Gospel of all.” Paul addresses some of the basic questions of human existence: “What is the cause of evil in the world?” “How can I face life and eternity with confidence?” “What is the source and role of government?” Join us as we study these and other questions as Paul reminds us of what Christianity really is.
Romans
Leader: Vicar D.J. Thomsen Location: Library (left at main entrance)
Target Audience:Young single adults, post-high school age
A look at how we can argue for the existence of god in an increasingly atheistic and agnostic world. College students who are home on break are especially welcome!
